ஆசிரியர் பா. ரூபிணி, கனிவும் கற்பித்தல் ஆர்வமும் கொண்ட இளம்பருவக் கல்வி தமிழாசிரியர். அவர் வகுப்பறைச் சூழல் பாதுகாப்பானதாகவும் எளிதில் ஈர்க்கும் வகையில் அமைந்திருப்பதால், ஒவ்வொரு பிள்ளையும் மகிழ்ச்சியாகவும் சிறிதும் தயக்கமின்றியும் வகுப்பறையில் தங்கள் எண்ணங்களை வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றனர். பிள்ளைகளின் திறனறிந்து அவர்களை அன்பாக அணுகுவதில் அவர் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டிருக்கிறார். இது அவர் கற்றல் நடவடிக்கைகளைத் திட்டமிட்டு, நோக்கத்துடன் வடிவமைக்கும் விதத்தில் தெளிவாக வெளிப்படுகிறது.

பெரும்பாலான குழந்தைகளுக்கு ஆங்கிலத்தில் புழங்குவதுதான் எளிதாக இருந்தது. இருந்தாலும், ஆசிரியர் ரூபிணி அவர்கள் சொல்வதைக் கேட்டு, அவர்களுக்கேற்ற வகையில் தமிழில் மொழிபெயர்த்துச் சொல்லி, தமிழைக் கற்றுக்கொடுக்க முயன்றார். இதை ஒரு தடையாகக் கருதாமல், குழந்தைகளின் கருத்துகளை ஏற்று, தமிழில் மொழி வடிவம் கொடுத்து, பொறுமையுடனும் உற்சாகத்துடனும் மொழியை பிள்ளைகளிடத்தில் வளர்த்தார். "நண்பரிடம் பேசிப் பார்த்தாயா?" என்று கேட்டு, பிள்ளைகளை ஒருவரோடு ஒருவர் பேசத் தூண்டினார். இம்முயற்சிகள் மொழியின் மீதுள்ள நம்பிக்கையையும் சக மாணவர்களுடனான உறவையும் மேம்படுத்தின.

ஆசிரியர் ரூபிணி தாம் மேற்கொண்ட ஒவ்வொரு மொழி நடவடிக்கையையும் பாடநோக்கத்துடன் ஒருங்கிணைத்து மாணவர்களின் மொழியையும் பாட அறிவையும் வளர்த்துள்ளார். குழந்தைகள் தயக்கமின்றி, மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் பங்கேற்றதிலிருந்து, அவர் பிள்ளைகளுடன் கொண்டிருக்கும் இணக்கமான உறவு தெளிவாக வெளிப்பட்டது.

Ms B. Rubini is a caring and passionate early childhood Tamil Language educator who creates a warm and psychologically safe learning environment in which every child feels confident to participate and express themselves. Her belief in meeting children at their point of readiness is evident in the thoughtful and purposeful design of her learning experiences.

During the observed lesson, Ms Rubini engaged the children in authentic discussions about familiar flowers, integrating the language objectives naturally and meaningfully. She guided them to name flowers such as jasmine and rose, introduced the Tamil letter “உ”, and facilitated paired activities to develop turn-taking, cooperation, and communication skills. The pairing of children was deliberate, and she consistently reinforced the values of sharing, patience, and attentive listening through her interactions.

A particular strength was her ability to support Tamil Language development in a context where most children were more comfortable communicating in English. Rather than viewing this as a barrier, she acknowledged their contributions and skilfully recast their responses in Tamil, thereby modelling the language with patience, warmth, and encouragement.

Her gentle prompts, such as asking the children whether they had tried speaking to a friend, reflected her commitment to building not only their confidence in using Tamil, but also their ability to interact meaningfully with their peers.
