தன்விவரம்

திருவாட்டி உஷாராணி சுப்பிரமணியம் சிங்கப்பூரின் கல்வித் துறையில் 36 ஆண்டுகள் பணியாற்றியுள்ளர். இவர் 24 ஆண்டுகள் தொடக்கப்பள்ளியிலும் 12 ஆண்டுகள் சிங்கப்பூர்க் கல்வி அமைச்சிலும் பணியாற்றியுள்ளார். தற்போது தாய்மொழிகள் பிரிவில் வழிகாட்டு சிறப்பாய்வாளராகப் பணியாற்றுகிறார். இவர் கல்வி அமைச்சின் பாலர் பள்ளிகளுக்குரிய ‘விண்மீன்கள்’ தமிழ்மொழிப் பாடக்கலைத்திட்டத்திற்கு ஆதரவு வழங்குகிறார். சிங்கப்பூர்ப் பாலர் பள்ளிக் கல்விக்குரிய பாடக்கலைத்திட்டப் பணிச்சட்டத்தின் மொழியறிவுக்கும் படிப்பறிவுக்கும் உரிய கல்வியாளர் வழிகாட்டியை வரையும் பணியிலும் ஈடுபட்டிருந்தார். ஆரம்பக்காலக் கல்வி, கல்வி அமைச்சின் பாலர் பள்ளி முதலியவற்றுக்குரிய கற்றல் கற்பித்தல் வளங்களையும் கதைப்புத்தகங்களை எழுதியுள்ளார்.

இரண்டு பிள்ளைகளின் தாயாகவும் இரண்டரை வயது பேரப்பிள்ளையின் பாட்டியாகவும் இருமொழி வீட்டுச்சூழலைப் பராமரிப்பதன் வழிமுறைகளையும் சவால்களையும் நேரடியாக அனுவித்துள்ளார். அவரது அனுபவங்களையும் தொழில்முறை அவதானிப்புகளையும் இருமொழி பேசப் பிள்ளைகளை ஊக்குவிக்கும் பெற்றோர்களுடன் பகிர்ந்துகொள்ள இருக்கிறார்.

Profile

Mdm Usha Rani SC has had the privilege of working in Singapore's education service for 36 years. Currently serving as Lead Specialist at the Mother Tongue Languages Branch, she supports the MOE Kindergarten’s Tamil Language programme. Throughout her career, Mdm Usha Rani SC has been involved in various curriculum projects, including contributing to the Tamil Language and Literacy Guide for the Nurturing Early Learners Framework for Preschool Education in Singapore. She has also had opportunities to write educational materials such as storybooks for Early Years programmes and MOE Kindergarten.

As a mother of two adult children and grandmother to a 2.5-year-old, she has experienced firsthand the joys and challenges of maintaining a bilingual home environment. She looks forward to sharing both her professional observations and personal learnings with fellow parents who are on similar journeys in nurturing bilingual children.

ஒரு மொழியைப் பேசும் அனுபவம் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு இன்பமானதாக அமையும்போது அவர்கள் தயக்கமில்லாது அம்மொழியில் பேசுவர். மொழி ஆளுமை பெறுவதில் மட்டுமே கவனம் செலுத்தினால் பிள்ளைகளது மொழி கற்றல் அவர்களுக்குச் சுமையாக அமையக்கூடும்.

Synopsis

This sharing session focuses on effective strategies for fostering confident bilingual children through enjoyable daily experiences. Parents will learn the importance of developing their mother tongue, which goes beyond mere language proficiency.

Centred on the approach of 'Joy before accuracy,' parents are encouraged to prioritise enjoyable language experiences over perfect grammar, fostering confidence and enthusiasm in young learners. This session illustrates how everyday routines can serve as natural opportunities for language learning. Simple interactions, such as mealtime dialogues and bedtime stories, allow parents to seamlessly incorporate Tamil into their family life.

Participants will learn that consistency and joy are essential in nurturing confident bilingual children.
