தன்விவரம்

திரு கார்த்திகேயன் சோமசுந்தரம் 2019-இல் லாசால் கலைக் கல்லூரியில் நடிப்புத் துறையில் இளங்கலைப் பட்டம் பெற்றவர். ஒரு தமிழ் ஆர்வலரான இவரின் அடையாளத்துடனும் வாழ்க்கைப் பயணத்துடனும் தமிழ்மொழிக்கு நெருங்கிய தொடர்புண்டு. தமிழ்மொழி மீது இவர் கொண்டுள்ள பற்றுதலே பல்வேறு தளங்களில் தமிழை முன்னெடுக்கும் பணிகளில் தொடர்ந்து ஈடுபட இவரைத் தூண்டுகிறது.

ஒரு நாடகக் கலைஞராகத் திரு கார்த்திகேயன், 'ரெ சோமா', 'அடுக்கு வீட்டு அண்ணாசாமி 2', விருதுபெற்ற ''பச்ச பங்களா ரெட்ட கொலடா' நாடகம்' உட்படப் பல நாடகங்களை எழுதி இயக்கியுள்ளார். அவாண்ட் நாடகக் குழு வழங்கும் மதிப்புமிக்க 'நாடகக் கலைமாமணி' விருது 2025-இல் இவருக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டது.

ஒரு நாடகக் கலைஞராக மட்டுமில்லாமல், இவர் ஒரு நடிகராகவும் தொகுப்பாளராகவும் எழுத்தாளராகவும் இயக்குநராகவும் புகழ்பெற்று விளங்குகிறார். இவர் பலதரப்பட்ட தொலைக்காட்சித் தொடர்களை உருவாக்கும் தயாரிப்பு நிறுவனமான Dreamcatcher Pte Ltd- இன் நிறுவனரும் ஆவார்.

Profile

Mr Karthikeyan Somasundaram graduated with First Class Honours in Acting from Laselle College of the Arts in 2019. Mr Karthikeyan has always felt a deep connection to Tamil — not just as a language, but as something woven into his identity and the way he sees the world. It is his love for Tamil that continues to drive him to champion the language across various platforms.

A versatile theatre practitioner, he has written and directed productions including Re Somma, and Adukku Vettu Annasamy 2. His production Pachae Bungalaa Rettae Kolaedaa, which he wrote, directed, was awarded and recognised at the ST Life! Theatre Awards 2024, and he received the Naadaga Kalaimaamani award from Avant Theatre in 2025.

Beyond theatre, Mr Karthikeyan works as an actor, host, and scriptwriter, and is the founder of Dreamcatcher Pte Ltd, a production house dedicated to creating television series across a wide range of genres.

Synopsis

Language learning thrives when everyone plays a part. When parents, teachers, and children come together, Tamil becomes a part of everyday life. In this interactive workshop, Mr Karthikeyan shares about the shared role that parents, teachers and children play in nurturing a love for Tamil.

Through games, songs, storytelling, role-play, tongue twisters and wordplay, participants will discover how Tamil can be experienced as a living language filled with creativity, humour and joy. Parents and educators will gain practical ideas to inspire language use beyond the classroom, while children will be encouraged to engage with Tamil with confidence and curiosity.
