陆晓丽老师于2008年加入教育部，拥有小学及中学的教学经验。她目前是一名小学教师，致力于激发学生对华文学习的兴趣。陆老师曾参与小学华文教师读报相联系学习社群（2023–2024），体现了她持续提升教学实践并培养学生批判性思维能力的专业承诺。2024年，她以读报教育计划的访问学者身份，在新加坡华文教研中心进行为期十周的研习，参与相关研究及专业发展活动，以进一步提升自身专业素养。

李欣棠老师于2012年加入教育部，现为一名小学教师。她深信母语教育的力量，长期致力于在学生成长的关键阶段激发他们学习华文的热情。李老师积极参与小学华文教师读报相联系学习社群（2025-2026）。在特级教师的指导下，她与不同学校的教育工作者积极合作与交流，将读报融入课堂教学实践。她持续探索新闻教学的策略，以培养学生的21世纪核心技能，引导学生在文字中探索世界，发展独立思考与批判性思维能力。

Profile

Mdm Leok Shiau Lie joined the Ministry of Education in 2008, with experience across both primary and secondary levels. She is currently a primary school teacher dedicated to inspiring students in their Chinese Language learning. She participated in the Primary School Chinese Language Newspaper Reading Networked Learning Community (2023–2024), as part of her commitment to enhancing pedagogical practices and fostering students’ critical thinking skills. In 2024, she was attached to the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language as a Visiting Fellow for 10 weeks under the News-in-Education initiative, where she engaged in research and professional development to further deepen her professional expertise.

Mdm Li Xintang joined the Ministry of Education in 2012. She is currently a primary school teacher, where she continues to inspire young learners and nurture their passion for the Chinese Language during their formative years. She participated in the Primary School Chinese Language Newspaper Reading Networked Learning Community (2025-2026). Guided by Master Teachers, she collaborated with fellow educators to bring real-world news into the classroom. Through this experience, she explores how current affairs can be leveraged to develop 21st Century Competencies, helping students progress from passive readers to critical thinkers who are curious about the world around them.

在本工作坊中，参与者将探索以新闻为基础的教学，并学习如何将时事融入母语课堂，从而培养二十一世纪核心技能。参与者将通过实用的互动活动，体验如何利用真实新闻材料提升学生的思维能力、沟通能力，以及公民素养与全球意识。通过小学二年级的课堂示例，参与者将体验时事融入语言学习的真实情境。参与者也将学习在家与孩子讨论新闻内容的简单策略，以及鼓励孩子提出批判性问题的方法。参与者能从工作坊中掌握可操作的策略，让以新闻为基础的学习更有意义、更有趣、更贴近学生生活，从而促进语言能力的发展与未来技能的培养。

Synopsis

In this interactive workshop, participants will explore the integration of news-based teaching and current affairs into the Mother Tongue Language classroom to develop 21st Century Competencies. Participants will engage in practical, interactive activities that demonstrate how authentic news materials can enhance children’s analytical thinking, communication skills, and engagement with real-world issues. Using a Primary 2 lesson example, participants will experience authentic learning contexts through guided discussions and problem-solving tasks that incorporate current events into language learning. Participants will also learn simple strategies to extend these practices at home, such as discussing news with their children and encouraging critical questioning.

By the end of the session, participants will gain actionable strategies to make news-based learning more meaningful, engaging, and relevant, while supporting language development and future-ready skills.
